Job Description:
Position Overview:
As a Design Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the design and development of mechanical rotary face seals, predominantly used in aerospace secondary power systems. From concept to production, you will work collaboratively with various departments to ensure successful product launches that meet our customers' demanding sealing requirements.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, implement, and analyze mechanical rotary face seals, focusing on aerospace and related markets. Conduct 3D modeling, create drawings, perform reverse engineering, and select components. Provide engineering, manufacturing, and project management support. Evaluate product effectiveness and reliability by assessing parts, procedures, and processes. Develop and execute necessary test plans, including test rig design, operation, and data collection. Prepare data-driven engineering reports for internal and external stakeholders. Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and data to assess feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements. Collaborate with different departments, customers, and suppliers as required. Maintain excellent verbal and written communication skills to build strong relationships both internally and externally. Utilize computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD software), FEA/FEMA, and project/time management tools. Embrace unique and complex engineering challenges with a positive attitude. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent with 1
years of relevant experience in the field of mechanical seals. Must be a U.S. citizen or a U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder). Proficiency in 3D modeling and FEA using SolidWorks or equivalent software is highly desirable. Experience in testing mechanical rotary face seals or similar mechanical equipment is highly desirable. Familiarity with various sealing concepts, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of AS9100 and ITAR regulations is preferred. Must be local to Rhode Island.
